Yesterday’s event left her in shock, which made her write this story. She was traveling by airplane. She was seated beside an older man. He seemed nice as the plan began to take off. They indulged in a conversation as she was a talkative person.
As they chatted, he asked her about her profession.
She was passionate about teaching and told him how much she loved being a teacher. Looking at her dedication, he asked her about the hardships and obstacles that had led her to lose control of herself, and she told him everything.
It was emotionally challenging for her to work in a low-income school. Gradually, the conversation shifted to global issues and how heartbreaking it is that children are surviving without necessities. Even in 2018, this rapid advancement couldn’t resolve the issue. And how every child deserves to grow up in a healthy and safe environment.
After seeing her dedication, he told her about her work details. It turned out his company was looking for schools like hers and was interested in making donations.
It was the last thing she expected to happen on Southwest Flight 1050. As soon as she gave him her school email, she felt a tap on her shoulder.
As she turned around, the man caught her off guard and apologized. He told her he had found himself listening to her conversation and couldn’t stop himself. He then reached towards his coat, handed her some money, and told her to “do something amazing” before sitting back in his seat.
She was flabbergasted that an unknown person not only moved her but also gave her money, which she thought was $100. It made her a bit emotional.
She thanked him and told him she planned to use this money to buy books for her students and pay this community back. Little did she know that it was not $100 but $500.
Another surprise was waiting for her as the plane was landing. The man sitting across from her on the aisle reached out and gave her $20. He told her he didn’t have much, but for her, the essence of humanity was enough to make her jump with joy. While she was overwhelmed, the man in front of her turned and handed her a bill of $10, telling her it was the only one he had. Her tears started running down at that point, and she started crying.
She told the four that she had done something amazing for the children, but didn’t tell her story about collecting money.
She wrote this to keep the chain reaction alive and help needy people, especially the children.
You can help in any way you can. You don’t need to be in school to contribute to this society, but be a human. This series of events made her realize that even in this wild world, there are amazingly kind souls who make it all worth it. She can do anything for her students’ well-being, and the nameless, generous strangers who contributed deserve to be regarded.
This experience and feedback motivated her to do more for society, especially for kids. All she wanted was to thank those kind-hearted individuals who deeply moved her.
