Kayla Jones, 29, lived in Texarkana, Arkansas, i never like never expected that her mother-in-law, Patty Resecker, will be the one to give her the most amazing gift she could ever possibly receive. Kayla’s path to becoming a mother began with heartbreak. When she was just 17, doctors found a tumor in her uterus.

Because of concerns it could be cancerous, she had a partial hysterectomy and her uterus was removed. Although her ovaries were saved, which meant she could still have biological children, she would never be able to carry a child herself. The biopsy confirmed the difficult truth.

After marrying in 2012, Kayla and her husband learned that surrogacy was their only option to have a biological child. Kayla remembers her mother-in-law frequently teasing about stepping in as their surrogate. At first, Kayla laughed it off, thinking it was just a playful comment. But as other surrogacy plans fell through, they began to consider Patty’s offer seriously.

Finding out that other grandmothers had successfully carried their grandchildren brought a sense of comfort and hope. Patty went through extensive medical evaluations and was ultimately approved to carry the baby.
The IVF process began in October 2016. Their first embryo transfer in March 2017 ended in disappointment when it did not succeed. However, they did not give up. Another attempt was made in May 2017, and this time, the outcome felt different.
They will always remember the moment they found out the news. Before heading to work one day, Patty left a specimen cup filled with her morning urine on her porch. Kayla and her husband took pregnancy’s test and it turned out to be positive. Silence and disbelieve filled the room. Kayla says she didn’t expect it to work, but it did.

Wanting to surprise Patty, they waited to tell her they had not yet tested. Then they drove to her workplace and showed her the positive pregnancy test. Kayla recalls that tears came instantly. She describes it as the happiest moment of her life, second only to the day Kross was born.
Seven months later, Patty gave birth to Kross by cesarean section. when she held her baby son for the first time she was satisficed. Kayla calls him a small miracle. Patty admits that the journey of surrogacy was not always easy, but every challenge was worth it. The gift she gave them was the most precious anyone could ever offer.
