Growing up, Jennifer’s adoptive family had never kept the fact that she was adopted hidden from her. The family she was adopted into never made her feel excluded, and she was given all the love and care she deserved. It was not just the parents, but also her elder sister, who was there for her and reassured her that she was everything to them. However, sometimes questions regarding her biological family surrounded her and made her curious. She wandered where her mother would be and if she still remembered her.
However, all the questions vanished when, suddenly, after Jennifer started high school, her mother handed her a box full of memories, ones that her birth mother had kept for her. There were letters, cards, pictures of her biological parents, and what they had to say to the older Jennifer. After she received the box, the next few hours were spent lying on the floor. While she read a few with a big smile, the others got her teary-eyed. Jennifer felt relieved when she realised her mother wouldn’t have forgotten her. She felt even more loved and cared for after reading the words of her birth mothers.
Jennifer then started writing letters, hoping to receive a reply one day. She wrote to the agency through which she had been adopted, and at the age of 21, her long-awaited dream came true. Jennifer and her birth mother met in person, and the distance that had come between them for years felt like it never existed. The bond was revived immediately. What made the situation even better was how Jennifer reunited with her birth father a few days after, too. Meeting him was easy and natural, not something she was trying for, but worth it!
After a few years of meeting her mother, Jennifer flew to Arizona, as her mother wanted her to meet her family. This was when both families came together, approximately two decades ago. They hung out in Maryland for a cookout. For Jennifer, the day was dreamy as she did not expect the wish she had made as a child to come true so beautifully that it would feel unreal. What made her life even more put together was meeting her now husband, the love of her life, at the age of fifteen, while playing football, and since that day, they have been inseparable. This was also how her birth parents’ love story had started! The cherry on top was how Jennifer’s husband and her biological father had graduated from the same high school. Was it really fate indicating two soul mates?
Jennifer got married in 2017, and her only wish was for all her loved ones, specifically every member of both families, to play a special role. From the father having the responsibility to book the best DJ in the town to the birth mom styling her hair, each moment was made special and thoughtful—something that Jennifer still treasures after half a decade. Jennifer had something special for them, too! She got personalized shirts made for each adoptive and biological family member, to honour them and their role in her life.
Getting a chance to be surrounded by people she loved and those who loved her endlessly was bliss, and Jennifer had nothing but love and gratitude in her heart. Her adoptive parents had been supportive and loved her like she was their child, so now, she has two beautiful families. Both she values and is grateful for equally. Jennifer is thankful that the emptiness in her heart was filled with God’s most perfect plans, ones she prayed for, but never expected to live. God chose her to live the best of life!
