It was a regular Friday at Noblesville West Middle School. Children were all set for their classes, and teachers headed towards the classrooms. However, a tragedy nearly happened. One brave man saved the day. This story is a message for all: to become a hero, you do not have to be someone special. At around 9 a.m., a student entered a classroom where all the seventh graders were seated. He opened fire!
Everyone in the room panicked, and chaos was all over; however, the science teacher and the school’s football coach, Jason Seaman, were ready to give it all so nothing bad happened. Seaman did not even think twice and jumped into the situation. It was a significant threat to his life as the student was armed but swatted the weapon from his hand, and in a few seconds, he was able to tackle him to the ground. This did cost him a lot, as he was shot three times in this process. However, if this brave man wasn’t there, god knows what could have happened and how many lives the event could have claimed.

In the series of events that took place that day, a thirteen-year-old girl was also severely injured, but thankfully, no lives were lost. Seaman has been a part of the school faculty for over four years now, and his actions have proved how loyal and committed he is as a coach and a role model for all students. Once everything had settled down in a few days, the parents and students who were eyewitnesses gave testimonials to appreciate the courage of their brave coach. Moreover, parents thanked him wholeheartedly as he saved the lives of hundreds of children. A child also narrated the fear and chills he got when the Seaman got shot.
A student has emailed his parents. The email clearly depicted how critical the situation was and how worse it could have gotten if Seaman had not been present there. The boy wrote: ‘There was a shooter in the building. I am shaking, and the girls are crying. The shooters are in custody, and the officers are here.’ The student also concluded the email: ‘I love you guys.’ This shows how scared the child was and how he wanted to show his love for his parents in case something happened.

The school had around 70 faculty members and over 1300 students. Thus, it was necessary to lock the institution down for a few days so the police could properly investigate the reason for this happening and apprehend the shooter. The story was shared to appreciate Mr. Seaman’s bravery and to thank him for whatever he did to save everyone around him.
There are very few people who do things for the sake of good, and he saw nothing but the safety of children first, although it could have taken his own life. One man saved a thousand people because of his bravery that day!
