“He Hid a Child for 6 Years, Then I Found Out I Had Vitiligo” – Woman shared her story of how she turned Pain Into Power and Purpose

A story of resilience and rediscovering yourself after pain and struggles inspires and wins hearts. The tale of Lomikor Johnson is one, too. She was raised in Louisiana, a small town in Ville. No fancy life and a strict apostolic family describe her best life. She was not even allowed to wear jeans, so she opted for skirts and dresses and was bullied. Moreover, a cherry on top was her being dark-skinned and skinny; thus, he childhood was dark. It’s not something she cherishes when she looks back at it now.
After a few years, her life shifted a bit when she moved to a different town. The freedom to buy herself whatever she wanted to wear and get a job gave her confidence. Not just this, but in the same city, she also met a boy, and soon she realized how much she loved him.

Things did not last long between them. Although she gave birth to their first baby at the young age of 17, the guy left, shattering her into pieces; she had no option but to take care of the baby now. Significant responsibilities at a young age teach you a lot!
Without a single thought, she mentally prepared herself to give the baby a beautiful life, and while things settled down quickly, something she did not expect happened. The father was back! He joined the military and moved away, and despite getting to know that she had a baby, he chose to love her and was constantly there for her. Fast forward a year, and they walked towards each other, all dressed up on their wedding days. Although Lomikoe, at that moment, thought that it was the best decision of her life to marry him, things turned out the opposite.

Life isn’t a bed of roses, and marriage brings a lot of struggles your way. With a partner who doesn’t cooperate, it became even worse as they had a daughter soon after their marriage, and the husband, being offshore, wasn’t ready to help with the kids. In a heated argument, he even slapped her once! With the intervention of Lomikoe’s father, the physical abuse had stopped, but there was no end to the verbal abuse.
She, of course, let it go for the sake of their marriage and kids, but all the time she took to heal and forgive didn’t matter when she saw a letter in the mailbox one day. Lomikoes’ husband has been fathering a child since their marriage. A child the same age as their daughter meant the marriage was a betrayal. She tried her best to forgive him again, but the feelings kept disturbing her and took over her heart and mind, which adversely affected the marriage. The husband was also arrested after another violent incident, and Lomikoes again divided to forgive him and took him back! Oh, how much does it take to save a relationship that gives you nothing in return?

This wasn’t a full stop to her struggles, as around the time Hurricane Rita affected thousands of people, Lomikoe was diagnosed with vitiligo. She spotted white spots under her arms that kept growing, and upon seeing the doctors, the results left her in shock. Would she be bullied for how she looked again? Was she going to relive all her childhood fears again, too?
However, this time, Lomikoe shows strength and decides to fight against everything that comes her way, as she is not alone; her children are also with her.

She filed for divorce, but her husband kept trying to hurt her in every way. She moves back with her parents and decides to rebuild her life—a beautiful and peaceful life!
The vitiligo kept growing, and she tried her best to keep it hidden until Lomikoe met a kind man who loved her and cherished her for who she was. This was the first time she felt seen and loved, as when he saw her without makeup, he didn’t judge and called her beautiful.
