The kid saw a pair of SpongeBob vans and knew he wanted them immediately. The father and son duo went window shopping to have a good day together, but when the boy saw those magical shoes, he said, ‘They are the coolest shoes ever.’ His face glowed, and he smiled broadly when his eyes fell on the boots.
When he saw his youngest one desiring and wanting something for the first time, he didn’t think, and they were on the counter paying for them in a few minutes. The kid’s love for the shoes was something new and different. It was like a treasure to them!
He wouldn’t do anything to make them dirty and walked carefully so they wouldn’t scuff. Nor would the boy go in the rain wearing them. The shoes were kept spotless for a long time! Every time he wore them, the excitement and happiness that would shine off his face were real!
The boots were a thing that represented him. But one day, things changed.
The boy, waiting to wear the shoes to school and expecting other children to wear them, suddenly showed no interest. He used to wait to show everyone his favorite pairs, but one day, when he arrived home from school, he was low.
Something was off as he tucked the shoes in his closet, deep inside, like he would never wear them again. This was concerning for his parents, as this was new to them. So, the next morning, his father entered his room before leaving for school and asked him why he was not wearing them.
The boy told his father he couldn’t find them, but they were right in front, inside the closet. The quietness and dullness on the boy’s face worried the parents. Why did his love for the shoes he would choose over any other fade in a day?
The father helped him lace them up, but hesitantly, he told his father how he was having a hard time and did not want to wear them anymore. The father did not force him to put them on.
To understand what was happening, his teacher relayed what had recently occurred in the class. A boy from his class called the shoes ugly, which broke his heart. Although the matter was solved, and the boy apologized the same day, words can’t be taken back, and kids have innocent, fragile hearts.
What he loves should be celebrated, and he shouldn’t lie in his closet to hide from the world. The world is cruel and doesn’t accept you most of the time. Knowing how his youngest one felt, the father was upset. However, he did not stop encouraging and motivating his son, as his shoes depicted how the boy was so lively and jolly. No one in the world should tell him what he should love. For a few days, everything felt off; his energy was low, but one day, the boy’s face showed how happy he was.
The reason?
Mr. Walls, his favorite teacher, ordered the same pair so he could twin with the little boy. Little actions mean the world to these little human beings. Although to everyone, Mr. Wall’s act was a small gesture, to him, it changed his vision and heart! Going the extra mile for someone is something that people rarely do, but a little bit of kindness never hurts; it can truly heal people.
