Unfiltered motherhood: The pain and quiet heartbreaks no one prepares you for

Unfiltered motherhood: The pain and quiet heartbreaks no one prepares you for

Motherhood is primarily a journey that all women pray and wish for, knowing all that comes with it, from the restlessness of nine whole months to the labor pain. But what and who prepares you for after embracing it?

Four months into motherhood, she realized it was a wild ride, totally different from what she thought it would look like after pregnancy. So, here she is, explaining stuff no one does for each other!

Who thought you could miss being pregnant even after experiencing severe cramps, being breathless, and experiencing body changes for so long? But the baby kicks that keep you going, the shifts a mother feels in specific experiences… remain special. The feeling that your baby is safe and protected inside you is unique.

Once he arrives, constant worries are everyday, but all super mommies can manage it so well and make it look effortless!

Being physically connected with the baby surely leaves a bond, although the contentment of his/ her presence is unmatched, too. It’s not just your body recovering, but your heart, mind, and soul too!
It’s not just about this, but handling an early newborn can be chaotic; you won’t have time for yourself, and even if you are putting in all of your energy, at some point, it still feels like you’re not the best version of a mom. Crying at 2 am, feeling conscious about yourself, or even from exhaustion, would become a regular part of your life, too. Moreover, little mistakes, e.g., dropping the bottle, a bad diaper day, or your baby crying, would frustrate and make you cry easily. On some days when your baby is asleep, you’ll even cry because you want to spend more time with him. A crazy journey!
But don’t worry, you must cherish this later, too!
It’s not just about the baby and the mother anymore; sometimes, as a partner, a thought might cross your mind that their actions aren’t enough or correct either. But you choose to give them space and time. After all, it’s a journey they have to cover together.
About the people? They won’t be here when you need them. You’ll see people you expected to be there forever leave when it’s time for them to hold you tight and make things easier. Eventually, your social circle shrinks, too! But you’ll come across new people, new moms going through similar feelings, babies, and they soon become people that matter to you.

Women do talk about the darkness of postpartum depression and anxiety, and it was something she could relate to. Feeling empty and broken. Little things scare you and keep you on your toes. But at the end of the day, know you’re human, and it is okay to feel this way.

Also, no one tells you that feeding the baby can be painful physically and emotionally, too.  No one tells you the right way; all you do is by yourself, but for your little one who keeps you going under any conditions.

And while you’re struggling, make it through each day with different emotions and mixed feelings as your baby grows. The onesies no longer fit them, and he is no longer just a few pounds heavy. So you decide to go back to work, but every time you leave home, you only want to come home and snuggle your baby. Distance stings you badly.

Although motherhood truly is a beautiful journey, there is so much that you are not prepared for. Sometimes, you lose yourself while you take care of everyone around you. You’re no longer the same person, but a strong mom now. What a beautiful addition it is!

When your baby holds your finger with his tiny hands, it flutters your heart. Seeing him smile at the sight of his mama takes away your pain and makes your heart so full. You know you would do anything for the little human you gave birth to.

So, the mother pens down her story to assure you that despite all the chaos and struggles, you will make it through because every mother and every woman out there is better than she thinks of herself. All you need is strength!
