Mrs. Cynthia always brings raisin bread and apple juice to the corner at the Waffle House. For the family, she has been a part of their lives for a long time. Holland is the woman’s daughter who penned the story to raise awareness. Although she was just a baby at the time, grinning was a common act she did whenever Mrs. Cynthia was in her sight.
When the baby turned one, they had a cute bond. Every time they visited the store, the family knew where she was from, what her kids were doing at the moment, and how her day went. Although she wasn’t from their family or someone they knew, the bond was personal and beautiful—something not seen commonly in such a chaotic lifestyle these days!

Knowing what both of them were going through, Mrs. Cynthia prayed for the woman’s breast cancer and the woman’s older son. It wasn’t a bond of sharing but also support, as her words kept the woman motivated in the most challenging journey of battling cancer.
Talking about the baby girl, she loved Mrs. Cynthia too much to the extent that her first, second, and third birthdays were celebrated where she worked. When they enter the parking lot, Mrs. Cynthia prioritizes taking Holland’s order first and knows it will always be the same- Waffle, a few chocolate chips, and a piece of crispy bacon. Holland always received princess treatment! Whenever she went to the store, ‘Let it go ’ was repeated, and Rica, Kia, and Cynthia danced to see her beautiful smile. Everyone around enjoyed it!
The friendship bloomed and became stronger with each passing day. It broke everyone’s heart when Holland grew old enough not to look forward to the song and the dance. Toddlers are curious little beings who need answers for everything. So was Holland.

One day, when they visited the store, Holland was curious. Something was going on inside her tiny brain full of questions, and soon, they knew what it was when she placed her hands on Mrs. Cynthia’s face. She told Mrs. Cynthia how she also wanted dark skin and asked why she had it.
Her mother’s heartbeat rushed as she knew it was sensitive talking and didn’t know the answer coming her way. The response was beautiful!
Mrs. Cynthia hugged her tightly and said, ‘God made everyone different. Isn’t it wonderful?’
Holland expressed her wish to dress up like Princess Tiana if they were both black. Cynthia knew what her next task was now!
Holland’s mother shares how differences between humans always exist and should not be ignored but rather cherished. As parents, you can not always stop kids from asking questions, but you can teach them to appreciate and love everything around them!
