Princess Catherine marked the completion of her Three Peaks challenge this weekend, welcomed by close family members as she crossed the finish line. The princess, who was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in early 2024, underwent six months of chemotherapy.

Catherine has previously spoken about how cancer “profoundly affects every aspect of life,” saying the Three Peaks challenge was not just a physical test, but also an opportunity to reflect on life beyond diagnosis and give back. Waiting to greet her at the finish line were her husband, three children, parents, and brother. She completed the challenge in under 24 hours, with her family gathered at the base of Mount Snowdon.
The Three Peaks challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Wales, and Scotland — Scafell Pike, Snowdon, and Ben Nevis.
In total, the challenge includes more than 23 miles of walking, 3,064 metres of climbing, and 462 miles of driving between locations.
Princess Catherine said she took on the challenge to raise awareness of the lasting impact serious illness can have on a person’s life, while also raising funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, where she received chemotherapy treatment.

She said: “Every year, hundreds of thousands of people in this country hear the words no one wants to hear.
“What follows is a journey that tests every part of who we are — physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
“The impact spreads far beyond the individual, affecting families, friendships, work, and even the quiet moments spent alone.
“Cancer doesn’t only affect the body. It changes the way you think and feel, touching every part of life.
“I know this from personal experience, and I understand that recovery requires more than medical treatment alone.”
Funds raised will help improve access to holistic healthcare, reflecting Catherine’s passion for supporting the whole person alongside clinical care.
