Ben and Lindsey got married in 2016, and since then, life has not been about the ‘honeymoon’ phase because Ben was in the army. Five days after the couple married, they packed all their stuff in a few suitcases and moved to Anchorage, Alaska. It was where they were stationed, and since their wedding day, the couple had not spent much time together. The wedding was no less than an adventure through which the couple held on tight to each other.

The couple had long dreamed of expanding their family and hearing their children’s voices. Just a few months after the marriage, the news of Lindsey conceiving a baby overjoyed the couple. In February 2017, the couple was preparing to turn the family of two into three and welcomed their little one when things took a significant turn.

At just nine weeks pregnant, Lindsey miscarried the baby, one that the couple was so eager to meet, and the joy quickly turned into a heartbreak that nothing could prepare the couple for. The miscarriage was accompanied by the news of Ben being deployed to Afghanistan for over nine months, and it was exactly what the couple did not look forward to. It meant that Ben could not be there to hold on to Lindsey every time she broke down because of the grief of losing their baby, and her journey of healing would now be covered alone.

Training for deployment started taking up most of Ben’s time every day, and what affected the relationship even more was the thought of being separated soon. With the acceptance of the near separation, Ben and Linsey had accepted that, for another year, embracing parenthood was not possible. So, for the rest of the months, it was all about negative pregnancy tests that did not affect the couple much mentally; they knew the chances were rare. It would all happen when God had planned for them.

Lindsey shared that the couple was firm in their belief that they took the negative tests as a sign from God that it was not time to become parents yet, and they were at peace with this fact. As August arrived, the time of Ben’s deployment was coming near. So Ben and Lindsey are now focused on making memories that they could recall and cherish for the time they were going to be separated, as the only way they could stay connected was through calls, which were not going to be regular.
Lindsey also planned a couple of photo shoots, and before that, photography sessions were when Lindsey decided to give it another try. She took a pregnancy test because her intuition insisted she do so, and this time the test had two pink lines. Lindsey was expecting! It was something she was not prepared for. Sher, knowing she would again be left disappointed.

Rather than instantly breaking the news to Ben, Lindsey planned to surprise the love of her life, as she knew how much he wanted to be called dad. The next three days were about planning the perfect surprise and keeping things hidden from him. She decided to make the photoshoot special, but, coordinating with the photographer, she informed him how she would break the news of her pregnancy while the photos were taken.
On the day, the couple stood back to back, and Lindey held a board in her hand to announce the news she had been waiting to tell for the past three days. The moment Ben turned, his reaction was priceless. Worth keeping the secret for three days, and shocked at first, he was overwhelmed with the news and was overjoyed.

It was just a few days before Ben’s employment, and thus, the couple decided to move back home to Pittsburgh, to their families, so that Lindsey would be taken good care of. Soon, they were only able to communicate through FaceTime calls, but Ben made sure to check in on her beautiful wife after every doctor’s appointment and every time she felt low. The couple couldn’t wait to welcome their baby girl, and they still hoped that Ben would return home before her arrival to witness the moment they had waited so long!
