‘Don’t You Remember Me?’: Former Addict Reunites With Undercover Officer Who Once Arrested Her, Now 4 Years Sober and Grateful He Saved Her Life

If you think that drugs can make your life better in any way, that isn’t happening because they make your life even worse than before. Drugs may offer a false sense of escape, but they silently destroy lives, dreams, and your futures. Every high comes with a cost far greater than imagined, trapping people in that drug circle from which they can’t go back. Choosing to break free from addiction will be the most significant decision of your life, proving that healing, hope, and a brighter future will always be possible.

Alisa Freeman’s journey is a remarkable story of transformation and redemption. She lived on the streets of Hollywood, Florida, as a druggie; her life was about getting some money and buying drugs with that money, and it was her daily routine cycle.

But one day, she was riding her bicycle when a pickup truck followed her. That day, she was not interested in the hookup thing. That truck followed her relentlessly, and after some time, she became curious and asked the man in the pickup truck. Basically, it was an undercover arrest that she didn’t know about, and it was quite a good move from the law enforcement. However, after entering a pickup driven by a man in scrubs who was part of the operation, she was asked if she would be rewarded with money if she listened to him. After cash changed hands, three police cars boxed the truck in.

It wasn’t the doctor after all; it was an undercover operation. She was busted again on solicitation and possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. Before this ongoing situation, she had already been arrested numerous times and was racking up 11 felonies. At that time, it felt like another bad day in a long sequence of them; she couldn’t see how pivotal it would become for her.

After years of chaos, she used her inner thoughts to become sober and rebuild her life from the ground up. Then she joined the diner in the same neighborhood where she had once walked the streets with drugs and given food to the cops that she had once met. The apron and notepad became symbols of structure, responsibility, and earned dignity.

On January 19, 2019, the exact day she marked four years without using any drugs, the lieutenant didn’t recognize her after stepping into her section and sitting down. When she reminded him of that sting and the pickup truck, recognition dawned because she was so changed then. The lieutenant apologized to her, but she was so thankful to him for the arrest that changed her future forever.

Drugs may seem like an escape from reality, but they only steal your life, dreams, and the people you love. Every choice to stay clean is a choice of freedom, happiness, and a future you deserve.

After reunification, they took a picture as a memory, and for her, it was a lifetime reward. When he paid, he left a note on the receipt that said to her,” Congratulations”.  It was a small gesture that landed with the weight of a milestone. In the years since, her gratitude has deepened.

She delivers a message to those who got caught in addiction’s grip: if she could change, so can they. That small event made her quit drugs. The recovery from this thing isn’t easy, but it’s possible with that hope that can begin in the unlikeliest places, even in the back of a police truck.
