After returning home from a weekend in Wisconsin, I finally felt a sense of peace in my Minnesota townhouse, my first real moment of happiness in years of chaos. That tranquility shattered when I discovered texts on my husband’s phone revealing he had been unfaithful while I was away with our children. I felt heartbroken and deceived in a marriage I believed was solid.

In a rush of despair, I packed my babies and left, driving six hours to my parents’ apartment in Wisconsin. I stayed with them for a week, lost and uncertain about my future. Though my husband begged me to stay, promising it was a one time event, I returned hoping to rebuild. We moved in with my parents and for nine months the four of us lived in a tiny two bedroom apartment while we scraped together a down payment for a new home.

During this time, I gained over 80 pounds reaching more than 400 pounds, a physical manifestation of my pain, depression, and self-loathing. A health scare during an ectopic pregnancy forced me to confront the reality: I needed to change; not just for my health, but for my children and myself.

I began a journey of selflove and transformation exploring my value and beauty beyond my circumstances. I joined a weight loss program, shedding 90 pounds before surgery, and gradually changed my behaviors and habits. But then I discovered more of my husband’s long terms infidelity, years of online sexual encounters and betrayals. The truth hit harder than ever: my marriage was a lie.

Determined to reclaim my life, I embarked on the difficult path to divorce, balancing weight loss, self-discovery, and single motherhood. Over 18 months, I lost 250 pounds, regained my independence, and rediscovered my voice and identity.

Eventually, I rebuilt my life finding love with a man who was first my best friend and a relationship built on trust and mutual respect. Through heartbreak, loss, and transformation, I emerged stronger, empowered, and free, with a life I had chosen for myself.
