Before Jason became a part of her life, her life was an amalgam of traumas and pain. Not the usual ones that everyone could relate to, as from undiagnosed bipolar disorder, several eating disorders, choosing to stay in abusive relationships that eventually led to her suicide, there was a lot that she coped with.
Nothing saved her except her love of writing and her dog, Luna. Thus, when Jason became a part of Lauren’s life, she had had enough, and life had already worn her down. Her passion for writing alongside her most faithful companions kept her going.
In 2019, Lauren lived in Florida, trying to overcome all that she had gone through and was healing. Not just this, another exciting part of her life crept in when it was time to prepare the release of her first book. Although exhausted from what life had brought her all this time, she was determined to love freely and feel better, no matter how long it takes.
This was when Jason unexpectedly walked into her life, a person who felt like peace after chaos. Lauren and Jason crossed paths on the sets of a podcast that one of Lauren’s friends was hosting. On the same day, he followed her on Instagram and did not hesitate to reply to one of Lauren’s stories, telling her how much it was needed. Who knew that one message, ‘needed this’, was meant to save her life and show her what true love looked like.
The message turned into late-night conversations and mutual vulnerability. The fact that both were heartbroken formed a connection quicker than they had expected. Jason was on his journey as his wife had betrayed him, and so he got a divorce. The two share their journeys and seek stability and hope in each other’s presence.
The Instagram message soon turned into hours of staying up all night, and in the blink of an eye, Jason was going to reach Florida from Ohio to meet Lauren in person! The moment they met, both equally nervous, it felt like things would be okay. At the airport, they hugged with sweaty palms out of nervousness, and in that very moment, Lauren knew she wanted this one to work out.
However, she decided not to rush, as her past relationships were scary, so caution was required. She was glad Jason had no issue waiting for her; his actions were clear. A few months later, they drove around town in their yellow van. It was the beginning of a beautiful life ahead!
Although life did not get easier, at least now both had someone to share their grief with. Through Luna’s death, Jason held Laren tight, assuring her that it would all be alright in the end. Not just this, even when Lauren got depression taking over her, he was there, crying, praying, and being a constant reminder of strength for Lauren.
Healing takes time; sometimes, it comes from humans and new hobbies. For the couple, it came in the form of a tiny Shepher-Dachshund that they named Miles. Miles, too, had been abandoned and was a survivor. Thus, each family member was an epitome of resilience and strength.
In 2022, the couple planned a fresh start in South Carolina, so they left Florida. To her surprise, when Lauren entered the loft, sunflowers and wine waited in the kitchen. As she turned, Jason was waiting with a ring. It was Yes!
The two-word message Lauren received on Instagram became the center of her life. Her story proves how second changes may work; even the smallest moments can change everything. Jason is the man she chose and keeps choosing every day!
