Infertility takes over all the happiness and drains you, whether it’s emotionally, physically, or even spiritually. The feeling of getting hopeless, constantly battling with the emotions that take over when you see someone else announcing their pregnancy and whatnot. While on some days you get a hold of yourself, thinking that this is what fate holds for you, on other days are spent sobbing, letting it all out, lying on the bedroom floor. Hope is non-existent and makes you want to cry for hours. Zoey Garner went through the pain and grief of being told that she might never be able to experience motherhood, but for Zoey and Burke, God had a miracle already planned!

The couple’s love story was beautiful, more like a fairytale, so when they got married, they didn’t even think of infertility as part of their story. The couple wished to grow their family soon after the marriage and had everything planned out for the long term. Even the baby names were pre-decided, and they knew precisely how to plan the baby shower. However, even after trying for months, no positive sign was seen, which broke their hearts and dimmed their hope.
In May 2017, the couple decided to see a gynecologist, and it was then that Zoey was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian syndrome. This might mean that she might not be able to conceive, and even if she did, complications would be a significant part of the pregnancy.
At first, Zoey felt weak and disappointed because of the diagnosis, as every woman, for most of their life, wants to experience the beauty of becoming a mother and the selflessness and joy that comes with the journey too. However, rather than feeling defeated for long, Zoey realized that the diagnosis was supposed to make her stronger.

The doctor told her to opt for Clomid, but even after four rounds, there were no changes, yet the stress she went through physically and mentally was further aggravated. Next, she was prescribed Femara, which took three more months. And a lot of disappointments. It felt like Zoey was stuck in a constant cycle of emotions, from denial, bargaining, anger, crying, to finally accepting, each day brought new challenges. The couple was recommended a fertility specialist who first suggested a few injections alongside IUI. The first one failed; however, the couple still hoped for a miracle. Then came the second and third attempts, after which it felt like all the efforts were useless, and nothing could be done.

Their prayers were answered! When Zoey looks back, she is thankful for her exemplary journey. God did not just bless them with a child, but Zoey also inspired so many women not to give up on hope. From all the painful days, which were all about tears and prayers to the procedures, ultrasounds, and needles—everything felt worth it after receiving the news! The pink lines meant everything to the couple.
Finally, the couple cried with happiness rather than because of heartbreak. The baby is their little miracle, and while they are still waiting to meet him and hold him tight, the couple never fails to show gratitude. The period of inferiority was tough on them; however, it was when Zoey showed the real strength that was always hidden within her.

Zoey wants all the women going through a similar phase to know that they are not alone and that while darkness may cover them, they should not give up! Infertility does not make you lesser, and good things always take time. Thus, make sure when something heartbreaking hits you, you fight through it with great strength and patience. A miracle might also come your way!
