I Don’t Want to Be in the Perfect Mom Club And You Shouldn’t Either

I Don’t Want to Be in the Perfect Mom Club And You Shouldn’t Either

I do not shop for organic.

My child drinks store-brand whole milk from Winn-Dixie.

Most days, he has something pleasant a cookie, a snack cake, or some gummy bears. (Close enough to fruit, right?)

He does not wear expensive clothes or name-brand shoes.

We head to daycare wearing hand-me-downs or great secondhand finds. Most days, he is rocking a full Cat & Jack outfit from Target. (Target moms, I know you get it!)

If you walk into my home, be careful you might step on a toy train or a PAW Patrol pup lying around.

Yes, our child watches TV. And honestly, so do we. Disney+ is a lifesaver for all of us.

Sit on our couch, and you will probably go home with dog hair on your pants. Also, don’t be surprised if our little poodle, Loretta Lynn, gives you a kiss.

Laundry is never caught up. The to-do list keeps growing. And I have not kept a New Year’s resolution in years.

But you know what? I am totally fine with that.

This is where we are at, moms. Life is noisy, fast, sometimes untidy and full of love. We keep going and doing our best every day.

By 9 p.m., we are passed out on the couch, maybe watching a little TV before we crash.

I am not trying to be a “perfect mom.” That sounds stressful and, honestly, kind of boring.

I am good with who I am. I am doing my best, learning more every day, and getting stronger along the way. I hope you are too.

To all the moms being themselves, you are doing an astonishing job.
