People often fantasize about working at pet care centers, thinking it is an easy job that requires giving the fur balls enough love and attention; however, it takes a lot more than that. Working at doggy care is not just limited to providing the babies belly rubs and adoring them when they wag tails, all this is just another beautiful part of working there. The employees must clean and organize, with tens of puppies and doggies in the day care, ensuring that all the pets feel safe and enjoy their time here.

A woman working at the Hound Hangout in Washington shared how busy yet joyous every day spent at the dog day care is. Although it does get messy at times, as not all dogs are as well-trained yet, the moments are enjoyed and not to be made chaotic. When a new puppy is to be welcomed into the family for a day or more, the employees are first responsible for pulling out a card with their name and handing it with their leash. Once it is done, they are only welcome to join the group.

Every day consists of caring for tens of puppies; on average, 40 to 65 days come to be taken care of. Every dog has its own traits and expects to be taken care of differently, too, as their parents have ways of spoiling their fur babies; thus, it has to be ensured that the dogs feel the same way at the dog day care, too. The treats always have to be in your hand; for that, the employees go through containers weekly to find the yummiest ones.
One thing that has to be embedded in your personality if you, too, look forward to joining a pet daycare center is patience. Mess and chaotic days are the norm. To avoid such situations, all the necessary precautions are taken beforehand. For example, multiple layers of rugs and blankets are laid near the welcome doors in case the weather gets bad, and with the tiny paw comes water and mud.

On some days, right when the owner leaves, the dogs decide to pee on the employees; however, they are always prepared for it with stacks of clothes ready. When it is time to empty the bins on the weekend, the laundry bins are full of dirty clothes and stink. The bins also include the mats, blankets, and everything the doggies decided to chew on. It’s a norm!

You may skip on a few of your responsibilities, but cleaning is something you can not ignore, as it is a constant cycle. From the floors to the walls of the doggy day care, everything has to be cleaned with disinfectant and is scrubbed thoroughly so no one catches infections or germs. For the walls, Lysol and warm water work the best. Not just this, where the women have been working, the pet care has also purchased industrial fans to help dry the floors quickly. After a single swipe, the mops turn brown with dirt, proving how much dirt these cute fur babies bring. So, if you have a pet, don’t skip cleaning daily.

The day list does not just end here, as puppies mostly need their me-time. Specific corners are required for most babies to take naps, and the energetic ones consider the corners their tiny play spaces. Piles of poop have to be thrown out, but with one goofy smile, they win hearts and make all the employees forget all the tiredness and work they continue doing.

Regarding dog food, owners are expected to bring lunch boxes packed perfectly and labelled so their dogs do not mix up. The food is managed and served with great care, and mostly, it is served one by one, so no chaos is made, and the dogs get to be stress-free while they satisfy their tummies. On a few days, gentle discipline is also needed in case of rough playing and barking excessively, but the time-out does not last for more than 15 minutes.
Harmony must be maintained at all costs, and cleanliness is a top-notch priority in dog daycare centers. The puppies get tired but are seen happy and always fond of the place when it’s time to go home. The next day, the employees are ready for yet another chaotic day!
