Little acts that aren’t little: Mother extends heartfelt thanks to Teachers for gifts that last forever

Little acts that aren’t little: Mother extends heartfelt thanks to Teachers for gifts that last forever

Although making handmade presents for family and friends in school is the perfect way to encourage children’s creativity, for mothers, it’s everything. Mothers share how they have the most wonderful time and feel loved when their children bring their presents home.

Every Christmas, they come home full of excitement and with sparkling eyes. In their hands are the lovely little presents they made in school themselves—clumsily packed and so colourful, but made with so much love.

Although the little detailing makes the mom happy, her smile gets wider when she sees the statement ‘For: Mom’ on the gifts.

While the mother is equally excited to receive them. ‘Don’t peet’, they say. They move towards the Christmas tree with light footsteps and slide them under. A lovely Christmas present for mom awaits.

What the kids aren’t aware of is, the only presents mom looks forward to opening are the ones they bring home. ‘Her personal favourites!’ Pretending to be surprised when she opens them up and giving them a big fat hug is what she waits for. Pride is visible on their faces, which makes Christmas so special for them.

They are not just ordinary gifts, but the heart of the mother’s Christmas.

She adds paper snowflakes, little cards, painted ornaments, and glittery photos to the Christmas tree to add more charm, an act she never regrets. Later, she takes them off with great care, so they are there to be hung again the following year. A cherished memory, they are.

What makes the memory a bit monotonous is that now, as the kids are teenagers, the excitement levels have dropped. The mom doesn’t get those cute little presents, and they don’t rush to the tree excitedly.

All that the mother has are the memories she kept safe all these years. Her heart feels happy knowing she still has the old ones waiting to be hung and to add beauty every year. They are a reminder of love!

The mother is aware that as the years pass, one day, the kids might not be around anymore. She would be celebrating and decorating alone. But she is also aware that those tokens of love will always make her smile, be it with tears welling up in her eyes. The laughter will still echo, and the joy she felt back then will remain unchanged. She wants to thank all the teachers who take the time to make lives so special.

So, to every teacher who has ever done something so thoughtful, such as making a handmade Christmas gift, thank you. She wants all the teachers to know how special it is for the parents and how the gifts are cherished for a lifetime.

She knows it isn’t their job, but they do it for happiness and love!
