It often becomes difficult for people to continue loving each other when long distances come between them. However, the people meant to be together do not leave, no matter the distance. Elizabeth hugged him tight at the airport while tears rolled down her cheeks as she was moving to South Sudan. Not knowing how long they would get to see each other and if their love would remain the same was stuck in her head. The day she left, Elizabeth ran to the bathroom and fell sick.
It would be a 21-hour flight for her, so as not to worry him further, Elizabeth sat in a stall, trying to calm herself down before the tiring flight. It was all a coincidence, as the couple first met in a parking lot outside her apartment. Elizabeth’s friend was moving in those days, so she called Eric. In the next few minutes, Eric arrived outside the apartment in an old Chevy to help, and after he came, hours were spent like minutes. While Elizabeth was in Sudan, they demonstrated their love by sending letters, more like handwritten notebooks, across continents and waiting several weeks for the other one to reply. The letters assured them that they still chose each other daily and were funny and full of love. The couple was reunited when Eric visited Elizabeth in South Africa. One year later, when Elizabeth returned, he stood at the airport waiting for her. It felt like finally coming back home after a long journey!
