While pregnancy is something women pray for and look forward to, the support of your partner is the most integral aspect for getting through the pain. In Yuma, Arizona, Labour was induced for a Marine’s wife earlier than the baby’s delivery was expected. The doctors told her that it was essential to conduct an emergency C-section to protect the baby. However, as her husband was on duty in San Diego for recruiter training, there was no way he could reach in time, so it all had to be done without his presence.

Getting the news, one of the fellow Marines’ wives, along with two of her husband’s mates, rushed to the hospital to support her and be by her side, knowing it was painful and the wife needed someone to be there at all times. The fellow Marine’s wife, also her friend, stated that by the time she reached the hospital, she looked fearful and was emotional. Her condition was not too good, and the absence of her husband made it even more difficult for her as she had to go through it all alone.

In the next few minutes, she was getting prepared for the surgery, and it was time to make a decision. Who was going to be the lucky one who would witness the birth? The staff told her that only one person could accompany her into the operating theater, but there were two people with whom she wanted to be present. While she wished for her husband’s best friend to cut the baby’s umbilical cord, she also wanted her friend, who was a professional photographer, to capture the memory for her husband to see later.

However, as only one person was allowed, Sgt. Rod would accompany her, so her friend gave him a quick lesson on how to use the camera. It was more like a crash course given in such an emergency. Although he was initially reluctant, after learning the basics, he got motivated to handle it all. After all, it was for his best friend to see! Thankfully, he was successful in all that he was made responsible for.

From cutting the cord to capturing the beautiful, worth-cherishing moments of the birth, he even accompanied the nurses who took the babies to the NICU after birth to monitor for the next few hours, as he had come earlier than expected. He really did a great job, said the photographer. After everything went well, the photographer captured the rest of the day’s special moments. What brought everyone to tears was when the dad met his angel for the first time. A few hours after the baby’s birth, the beautiful family, now of three, was united and looked happier and emotional than ever!

Although the emergency greatly worried everyone, the baby weighed 6 pounds 6 ounces and was healthy. With the successful surgery came relief for everyone present, including the mama and the baby. Not just this, seeing the husband was all she needed, and it was all captured beautifully. The start of the day was terrifying as the life of the baby was at stake; however, all that mattered was that it ended beautifully. The beauty of being there for someone, and the joy of welcoming a little angel into this world, was witnessed and was a beautiful experience.

Although the father could not be there due to his responsibilities, the story is a beautiful example of how people from different families in the Marines reunited to ease things for their fellow Marines. The first time everyone saw him holding the baby, it felt like he was holding his entire world in his arms. The couple was grateful to the wonderful friends present! This is an example of how kindness makes the world beautiful.
