The first day of school signifies a beginning, different grade, new instructor, and the comeback of early risings, filled lunchboxes, and assignments. Different parents quietly look forward to to this day after an extended summer spent with their children at home. For us, the first day at school also signified picture day at our nearby middle school.

My eldest son, Carter, is in seventh grade. He is very good boy, and we have a good connection. He continues to discuss everything with me and even lets me choose him his outfits when it’s a picture day.

A couple of days before the beginning of school, we started organizing his outfit. If you have sons like mine, you know they enjoy dry-fit shirts. Fortunately for us, Carter had a couple with collars, so we chose one.
This is what we talk about:
Me: The dark gray shirt could look the same as the background, like before
Carter: okay.
Me: “you have previously worn the navy one, and last year you had the teal color.”

Carter: okay, what is next?
Me: This one that is green. It must look appealing against the background.
Carter: Okay, fine. Which pent should I wear with them?
Me: shorts will outshine the shirt.

Thus, we choose the green shirt. We practiced his smile and styled his hair. I told him not to squint and to grin as if he just heard something amusing. I also mentioned he should confirm with the photographer before the picture was taken to ensure his hair appeared good. Later that day, I was enthusiastic to learn about school.

Carter entered and remarked, “Mom, I should not have chosen the green shirt. They employed a green screen.
I was so surprised! What is is a green screen? I did not know. I must have read that information in the school emails.

Two days later, I received an email containing the photo proofs. I unwrapped it to see. When I saw the pictures for the first time, I could not stop laughing.
Carter was correct; the green shirt had blended into the surroundings! His head and arms appeared to be hovering in front of autumn landscapes and banners.

I shared it with my husband, and we both laughed a lot. His smile and hair were flawless, though! I posted the pictures on Facebook, and before long, many people were sharing them. Acquaintances and newcomers were remarking, chuckling, and expressing how attractive Carter appeared.

Carter laughed too and said, I told you. Right now, we are enjoying the moment and feeling joy. Many parents have praised me to share this little joy moment #momfail. It has turned into a memory This is something we will always remember and laugh about for a long time.
