Undoubtedly, relationships that talk about things in the long term tend to last longer and be successful, and so was the case for Mandi and Grant. The two had been head over heels in love since the beginning of their relationships, and most of their conversations were about spending a beautiful life together. Time passed, and rather than the spark fading away in most relationships, the bond kept growing stronger and deeper. The week Grant planned to propose to Mari, her friends took her to get nails done, and without thinking much, she joined them, not expecting to be proposed to.
She did not know how it was all part of the plan until the last moment. After having breakfast, Grant took them to Ritchy Woods Nature Preserve, a quiet and peaceful place. Arriving there, Mandi did get a hint that something was cooking. Grant led both the girls down a wooden trail, and as Mandi wore heels, she tripped, which gave them a perfect moment of laughter.
The surroundings were as beautiful as the moment would be, and as they walked down, Mandi’s heart kept racing until they stopped near a wooden bridge tucked away in the trees. As Mandi tried taking in all the beauty, Grant suddenly knelt and asked her to become his wife. Mandi was shocked. She knew this day would come, but how the moment felt was everything. She gasped.
Her best friend, who hid behind the trees and took perfect shots, captured the moment. This is what best friends are for! To picture the perfect one, one you’d want to cherish forever. However, the surprise hadn’t ended yet, as the other was more thoughtful and beautiful. Right after she said yes, Grant slipped a ring on her finger, but did not get up. He looked at her daughter and asked if she allowed her to be her father. Grant also continued promising how he wanted to protect and care for her mommy and her for the rest of their lives.
This was when ugly tears fell from her eyes, and politely, her daughters whispered a loving thank you with a warm smile, just the way Mom had taught her! Grant again asked if it was a yes or no, to which, with a sparkly face, she said a big yes. The little one was over the moon knowing she would have a daddy now! Grant then pulled out a heart-shaped pendant and placed it around her neck, telling her to keep it as a present from Daddy.
In that moment, Mandi knew she wanted to spend the rest of her life with this fantastic man—one who values and loves her and accepts her daughter wholeheartedly. They are a family of three, and life has never been so wonderful and complete. Their story is a fairytale!
