Since the pandemic took over the world, all the hangouts and dine-outs were no longer there. After weeks, on a Saturday night, he visited a famous spot that was going viral, as they had expanded their services to meet the pandemic needs. It was a local restaurant offering outdoor seating and take-out orders for people’s safety; thus, he ordered curbside pickup.
However, the experience wasn’t going great. The order was supposed to be received by 6:45, max, but even after calling three times, there were no signs of receiving the order. She called for five continuous minutes but was set to go inside and check because of no response. She wore her mask and went inside, where another couple, maskless, was standing there. Unexpectedly, there was complete chaos inside the restaurant!

The phones rang at full volume, yet no one picked up. The host in the restaurant was surrounded by seven young employees of the same restaurant, and the staff was seen overwhelmed as they juggled tens of responsibilities simultaneously. From guiding and seating the guests to handling the customers waiting for a long time, they were on their toes, trying their best to look polite and calm.
She talked to an employee and gave her name, ‘Fortner,’ saying she didn’t receive her order even after such a long wait. Besides this, she also gave the names of the two people waiting outside- Schneider and Miller. While standing there patiently, he looked around, and rude people were all he could see. Despite Corona being at its peak worldwide, the couple was maskless and angry about how no walk-ins were allowed.

It was surprising as she had a mask in her Prada bag but refused to wear it, creating a mess. To calm the woman down, the man, probably her husband, tried consoling her in between by making out before they stormed off. The moment she was done observing the couple, there came another group. Their reservation was denied because they brought along two extra guests, and because of the strict rules and regulations, the employees at the restaurant could not do anything to accommodate them.
They, too, looked furious as they claimed it was a birthday celebration and a normal thing to outnumber. However, the hostess politely explained how they could not go against the rules. Two other women were loud because they could not have a drink at the bar, and within a few seconds, they left the restaurant, screaming that they would never come back.

The next slot for people who could sit and eat was at 10 p.m., which was another reason so many people were angry. At the same time, others had a problem with wearing masks despite knowing the ongoing situation and the deadly pandemic. The staff is to be appreciated, as they did their best to solve every little problem to bring things back to normal. The conditions were challenging to handle!
In between everything he observed, the manager reached out to him and told him how an employee mistakenly gave his food to another customer. The sweetest gesture was that he even brought him a free dessert as a heartfelt apology.
To him, waiting was an entitlement, as even when the whole world was going wild and locked up inside their homes, the people had a chance to hang out, yet they were not cherishing it enough. Frustration had taken over them, and they acted like toddlers while following the rules, although it was for their safety.
It was surprising for him how people could confuse inconvenience with injustice despite knowing everything. Humans don’t deserve a thing until we earn it because we never live in the moment!
