Proud Mom Embraces Her 10-Year-Old Non-Binary Child’s Sparkling Self-Expression

Proud Mom Embraces Her 10-Year-Old Non-Binary Child’s Sparkling Self-Expression

After three miscarriages that took the couple’s peace away, they were finally at the hospital getting an ultrasound done, excited to know if it would be a boy or a girl. This is a flashback to 2008; the husband and wife were young, 24-year-olds trying to figure out everything by themselves. After each miscarriage, it felt like losing a lot, but when they got to know about the pregnancy this time, the couple planned every little thing in detail.
Coming so far, it was time to know that gender was a victory for them. In just a few minutes, the technician smiled and broke the news to the couple. They were having a boy! The first grandson and grandchild of their families, the couple could not contain their excitement and told the news to their loved ones. When she told the news to her dad, his voice changed, and she knew how happy he was through the phone call as he talked about all the wishes he wanted to fulfill with his grandchild, from going together on the motorbike to fishing.

All the couple wanted was a healthy and happy baby, whether a boy or a girl. Little Sam arrived in this world on 21st April 2009, and gladly, he was a healthy baby who weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces. Although the pregnancy was tough due to previous experiences and needed extra care, the delivery was smooth.
The mom describes holding the baby as falling in love at first sight. Sam has blue eyes shining like gems and a head full of hair, similar to his dad’s. Everything that had previously happened, the bumpy road, made sense when she first held him in her arms.
After coming home, sleepless nights and struggles as new parents were constant, but she knew that motherhood is not just a journey but an emotion. You can’t plan it; you must go with the flow. Having a baby taught her to be present and live in the moment fully.

Sam was a clever baby. In a few months, after he turned one, he started talking clearly. He was attached to his mother and an observant baby, as he noticed every little action that the mother did and mimicked her. The moments were precious for the mother, ones that made her feel okay even after long, tiring hours of work and hundreds of responsibilities piled up, one after another.
When Sam turned two, his actions and hobbies differed from those of boys typically his age. Rather than playing with blocks and cars, he was always in the dress-up corner at the daycare.

He was seen experimenting with hats, purses, and even feathers. Moreover, his love for purses was unmatched, more like a self-expression tool for the boy. He carried the purse everywhere, and it was also filled with things, e.g., toys, lip gloss, etc.
Thinking it was normal, the mother also gifted him a purse, but rather than going away, the love kept increasing, and people started questioning his choices, even their own family.
His school arranged a spa day for a girls’ day out, and he was super excited. However, he was heartbroken when he was told it was just for girls. The next day, his mother came to school and talked to them about how Sam wanted his nails painted. The happiness on his face was unmatched!

Sam has turned 10 and is a straight and confident guy, as the pronouns he uses are he/him. However, time did not fade his love for purses as he always carries one and also opts for colorful clothes and makeup.
The little boy also dreams of becoming a jewelry designer one day. The story is a message that is not about the child’s gender but the things they love. Every child needs to be seen, heard, and understood!
