Children and babies have always made me feel happy inside. That love has been part of me for as long as I can remember. So, when I found my passion for photography, it made sense that little ones would be my favorite to capture through the lens. Right around the time I really started diving into photography, I crossed paths with Trish.

She had just welcomed her second baby, a sweet little girl named Lauren, and asked me to take newborn pictures for her. That session was just the beginning, and I’ve been lucky to photograph many moments for her beautiful family ever since.

A year later, Trish told me about her mom group. It’s a tight-knit circle of 15 moms and 15 babies, all around the same age, anywhere from six months to a year old. These moms come from all walks of life, with different backgrounds, jobs, and ages. But they share something special: a deep love for their babies. What started as simple weekly meet-ups quickly turned into deep friendships. They help each other through the tough parts of parenting, cheer on every baby’s milestone, and celebrate life’s little joys together.

About a month ago, Trish reached out with a fun and wild idea — a big cake smash session with all 15 babies. I had never done anything like that, and I’ll admit, I was nervous. On August 12, we met at my parents’ front yard to make it happen. We laid out blankets, set up little cakes for each baby, and waited as all the families arrived. Seeing that many babies in one place, all so happy and connected, really touched my heart.

Once everyone was ready, the moms lined up with their babies. On the count of three, they set them down in front of the cakes and dashed behind me. I started snapping pictures as fast as I could and it was pure chaos! Some babies dove into the cake, others cried, and a few just wanted their moms. But it was adorable chaos, the kind that makes your heart smile.

After a few messy moments, the moms scooped up their little ones for hugs and cleanup. It was over just as fast as it started.

The photos from that day have gotten a lot of love, and I’m so thankful for the chance to capture such a sweet, hilarious memory. These babies have such bright futures ahead, and I’m honored to be part of their story.
