Today I Gave My Daughter a Mental Health Day, and It Turned Out to Be My Best Decision Ever

Today I Gave My Daughter a Mental Health Day, and It Turned Out to Be My Best Decision Ever

“Today, right after I picked up my five-year-old from kindergarten, I noticed she was in what I refer to as one of her ‘moods.’

She was lament about everything, not herself, and behaving so tense. I was promptly frustrated and thought, ‘You’re nearly six, why are you behaving like this?!’

After a few hours of her behaving this way, she looked at me with tears in her eyes, and I asked, ‘are you simply having a tough day?’ She embraced me and said, ‘I’m simply tired, mom.’

And that’s when it hit me; I completely ignored what I continually tell my children:

Making your mental health the foremost priority.

I prepared her a lavender bubble bath, applied a face mask for her, and lit candles while she read her books and drank her apple juice.

Following the bath, she became a different child. The child I typically recognize. She felt joyful, had increased energy, and managed things more effectively.

I believe we all overlooked that even children can find life irresistible at times. Even they require a pause from everything.

Today showed me that I must become a more kindhearted parent, since I also experience a lot and require a calming bath to relieve myself from everything.

Age is immaterial. “That’s something we all require.”
