Today, a tragic even befalls in my family. My younger sister, Glenda, customary her high school yearbook from Watching Hills Regional High School, but her name and picture were misplaced. She attended picture day, and our family never requested that she be excluded. She and the other schooling student were left out.
The faculty and staff that cooperate with her daily were introduced in the yearbook, but the students they assisted were not. It feels like Glenda and her peers are invisible to the school. Her name does not exist in the index at all.
Consider the suffering my mom experienced while sitting with Glenda, endeavoring to clarify why her photo was absent mostly since Glenda does not completely grasp why she is being pickled differently from her classmates.
We did not ask for privacy for Glenda. Certainly, my mother authorized a media release permitting the school to utilize Glenda’s photograph. However, no parents were consulted before this decision being made. It was a mistake; it was a choice that the student ignored.
This is not only unacceptable it is unfair. Excluding students with disabilities unreasonable federal regulations, such as Section 504 of the restoration Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), designed to safeguard individuals with disabilities against perception. By opting to exclude Glenda and her nobles, the school is deciding on the type of image they wish to reveal one that does not contain all students.
Students with special needs normally do not have the occasion to advocate for themselves. That is why i am supporting for Glenda and all the other students who felt overlooked. By remaining silent, we are enabling this type of exclusion to persist.
As Glenda missed her moment in the yearbook, we are now sharing her with everyone online. Due to her significance.
Update: My parents received a reply from the school. They announced plans to produce an additional yearbook featuring all students and will collaborate with the yearbook team to ensure this does not follow again.
Kindly continue advocating for those who are unwilling to voice their own needs. Your opinion is important. When individuals unite to back what is just, genuine alteration can occur.
