Feroxx had always been highly spiritual, as prayers were something she relied on and stuck to in times of happiness and grief. One of the main reasons she was shaped this way was that she had seen her parents pray throughout her life. Feroxx’s father would always sing her a bedtime prayer every night before dozing off. The seeds sown in childhood bloom later in life, so no matter how tough life got, she knew precisely what to do: pray with a faithful heart.
In her teenage to early adulthood years, Feroxx grew up as a passionate nonconforming artist; however, the intensity of her passion was diagnosed as a serious condition. The doctors said it could be a mental illness, which is why, from the age of 12 to 18, Feroxx had to take medications and developed anger issues consistently. When she turned 20, alcohol slowly crept into her life, and it made her feel free and gave her a sense of belonging. However, little did she know it was poison that she was consuming and how adversely it would affect her life. At 25, Feroxx decided to get married as she had always wanted to build a beautiful family. When she was finally able to conceive, she chose to stay sober so it would not affect the baby.
The pregnancy went smoothly, and the couple welcomed a baby boy; however, soon after his birth, Feroxx had to go through the grief of losing her dearest sister. The grief hit her so hard that she started consuming alcohol again, and this time it was more of an addiction rather than occasional consumption. She was soon a closet alcoholic, which is why her health kept declining. Blacking out at night, constantly being consumed by symptoms of extreme anxiety, and internal bleeding are just an overview of how bad her health got. Not just this, but she preferred staying at home in isolation for extended periods. Feroxx woke up fully determined to quit the habit every morning, yet every day brought a new failure.
She did have the realisation of the consequences the addiction might bring, fearing that her son would hate her in the future after her death. On 10th December, 2018, when she watched A Star Is Born, she broke down and asked her husband if it was too late for her to fix things. The husband said no, and this was when her journey towards sobriety began. The next few days were spent thinking and gathering courage to give up on her habits, and three months later, Feroxx was back at what she was best at—writing music. This time, the lyrics were all about healing and survival, clearly reflecting her journey. Her husband was all in to support her and sent her to the studios to record the tracks she wrote. Slowly and gradually, Feroxx saw herself gaining back strength. The old Feroxx was being revived!
Fourteen minutes into the journey, she got hired to manage the studio where she recorded tracks. Since then, Feroxx, which means fierce in Latin, has been unstoppable, with over 30 songs produced already. She has even earned her personal Pandora status through hard work and dedication. When her music is heard, people often compare it to the songs of Lorde and Au/Ra. However, what matters the most to her is how it reflects her story. On the journey, she gathered the strength to cover and was successful.
Her journey taught her that healing from something or letting go of what is harmful is not limited to giving up on it; rediscovering one’s old self is the hardest to cover. For Feroxx, something so harmful later became her most significant win. After days of falling and picking herself up, starting from zero, what matters is how she gained back her passion and life!
