A woman pens down the heartbreaking story of losing her husband because of a misdiagnosis

Sitting in a hotel room, the woman never thought a misdiagnosis would take away her husband.

Life changes in an instant and in ways one can never imagine.
She sat alone in her hotel room, the one she and her husband had booked from his Marriott points to spend their vacations—a trip free from all worries.
It was supposed to be a trip that took their daughter back to college, but all she was left with was grief and sorrow that would stick to her for the rest of her life.
Losing someone you love is never easy on the heart; the memories occupy your brain every second. The feeling of a heavy stone placed on your chest is constant.

It’s been a month since she lost her husband, and the woman with so much courage gathered the courage to pen it down for people to read.
He was the one who led in all ways—from planning things, making reservations, packing stuff, to every little task. His happiness was contagious for the family and kept everyone happy. Now, in silence, his laugh echoes in the corners of the campus, and memories keep coming back like things will again fall into place. The story ended way too soon; they had to spend a lifetime together.
Not just for the wife, but for his son, who lost his backbone. Someone who would take his hand and let him out of all worries, the one to protect and guide him to achieve all the milestones he wanted.
The man was happy and healthy, a perfectly normal human, until he caught a fever that the family thought was just normal.
The next part of the story is not how you expect it to be.
A fever that took a man’s life? Days of sleepless nights, sweat, pain, and then a misdiagnosis that took his life. What they thought was a kidney infection that would get better was much more; he got babesia, a rare tick-borne illness.

The worst part? He did not have a spleen, which is why his health deteriorated in the blink of an eye.
Unfortunately, it was too late by the time doctors found out the actual diagnosis. One moment he was texting his family, telling them how he would be fine, and the next day he was on a ventilator struggling to breathe.
She could do nothing but watch the love of her life, lose at life. Everything faded away. She did not get the time to process her husband being diagnosed with such a significant illness, and soon, he passed away.
She penned down her heartbreaking story, not to gather sympathy but to raise awareness so that timely and correct diagnoses can be made. If the doctors had caught the illness earlier, there would have been no loss!
