Adoption is one significant experience only a few get to experience, but it’s more like a gift after the pain. It takes a big heart to accept and raise a child or person as your own, even when they don’t biologically belong to you. Mira was also an adopted child. She was adopted when she was just 9 months old, and adoption makes you go through every kind of emotion.
She always fantasized about how every child should have a home, deserve to live with their families, and be seen, loved, and heard without boundaries. But the world isn’t how you perceive it to be. Hundreds of thousands of babies don’t have a home or family, which is where reality kicks in.

Fast forward a few years, Mira married Josh, and one thought that never left their mind was to have a child. The thoughts aligned when it came to deciding that they could adopt a baby. They were not doing too well financially at that moment as Josh had recently left the military and was still deciding on what to do next, whereas Mira had left her job… so they were taking time figuring out their career paths. But they were so ready to give it all. They never gave up praying to god to bless them with a child who needed a home, and god heard!

On one random Sunday, when they were at church and heard the pastor quote a Bible verse, in the next few hours, they were out buying baby clothes, diapers, and other stuff as if the baby had already arrived. They were ready to become foster parents in Florida, but did not know who the baby would be. All their intuition screamed was that he would soon be a part of their lives. Then came a phone call that changed everything.
It was a phone call from a number from out of state, and on the other side of the phone was a woman with a shaky voice. ‘I heard you’re adopting. I have a two-month-old daughter, Lillie”, she said. Mira was in tears the moment she heard what the woman was saying. It was no less than a dream come true. After that moment, Mira dialed Josh’s number as he was away on his Navy duty, and he got excited and happy. He told Mira to wait no longer and get the baby.

However, since Lillie became a part of her life, Mira and Josh have been happier than ever. Watching her first steps, being called mom and dad, holding her hand- every little moment was special, but on some days, Mira felt guilty when she thought of how the birth mom would feel when she gave up her baby. She used to question herself about why god chose her, but deep inside, she knew it was meant to be. She had to become Lillie’s mother, and she had to give Lillie a beautiful life, so she knows adoption is not for the broken but is full of redemption. It transforms your life beautifully!
