When Kristi walked out of jail after he DUI arrest, she was scared. It was to an extent that his body was shaking, she felt angry and insulted, not just this, she was separated from her husband, and was underweight too. Nothing felt like it was in place. The fear of doing every little thing kept her occupied, whether it was drinking, scared to become sober again, afraid of staying in the marriage, and of divorce, and the most terrifying was how she feared herself. Would she ever be able to think of herself normally, as a happy girl again?
Kristi did not have the energy to do anything at all. She no longer wanted to hide how fond she was of alcohol, the way she constantly pretended to be fine in front of others so she was not a burden, and the constant excuses she made to escape things exhausted her further.

It felt like she was constantly in survival mode. Even waking up daily felt like a monumental task, and she felt sick and tired the entire day.
Battling all those fears, four years passed, and when Kristi looks back and compares her life to how it is right now, she is aware that all that is happening is a result of her actions and behaviour. All that is happening is because she was not the one to run away. Still, she always decided to show up no matter how challenging the situation was wether it was the day her parents drove her from jail to home through a three hour long drive or the time she had to pack all the things up with a heavy heart and kissed her children, the humans she loved the most as she had to spend 60 days in the treatment center.

After the treatment, when she finally had to make a wise decision for the betterment of herself and the children, it seemed like there were only two options. Either she could choose to continue drinking and get divorced, or the other option was the opposite. However, fate had something else for her. She could not heal in the same house, so nesting was chosen. A nanny was hired to care for the kids and avoid them getting disturbed by all the chaos.
When she finally quit drinking after 90 days, she chose Instagram to share her journey in words and inspire the world. Although Sobreitry did not end all the problems instantly, it made things easy for her. Strangers showed up to support her in her journey and sent messages that comforted her. Not only this, but she could face all her problems with more bravery, as no one could now accuse her of being a drinker.

As time passed, the couple eventually ended their marriage through divorce and told the kids before Christmas that year. The best part was how Kristi stood firm on her decision to stay sober even when COVID-19 took over the world and alcohol bottles surrounded her at her parents’ place.
Later, she even settled in her own house and home-schooled her kids. Recovering from her past and overcoming all her previous habits has been an arduous journey. Consistently practicing yoga, meditation, and exercise takes a lot, and she has also adopted many other habits, like journaling and honesty.
Through her journey, Kristi also helps others deal with their battles. She is now a certified recovery and divorce coach and actively works in society to promote wellness, especially in women.

Not just this, she arranges gatherings in her community to address people. She firmly believes that becoming sober led her to rediscover herself and who she is. She works hard for herself and her kids, dreams bigger, and lives freely; that is all a human wants to live a golden life.
Moreover, Kristi does not carry her past with her but takes pride in the woman she has become, without any shame!
