The feeling of emptiness, no matter the scenario, can be daunting. In 2011, the couple was young and had three children. All their children were under six; however, the mother always felt the family was still incomplete. Although a great husband and father, the husband did not seem prepared to welcome another child. However, in a few months, she was pregnant again.
The couple was overjoyed, but the happiness did not last long, as after a few weeks, a miscarriage occurred. The emptiness now was accompanied by the grief of losing a baby, but God always has the best of plans. Soon after the miscarriage, they welcomed another baby boy.
Her response left the parents confused and speechless when the 6-year-old daughter was told that another boy would soon be a part of the family. She told the parents they’ll adopt a sister when the boy ages.
The mother did not respond much to it, but the thought of adopting a baby has never left her mind since that day. Was it a sign for the couple to expand their family through adoption? Is it what was causing the emptiness? When the mother was pregnant with her fourth child, she saw a bizarre dream that felt like another big sign that everything that was happening was for a reason.
She saw that she held a beautiful baby girl named Josefina in her arms. The name means God increases, and since the day she saw the dream, the name was everywhere! It felt like a permanent part of her life; thus, the couple decided to reinforce their path by beginning the process.
In a year, the couple was on their journey to completing the adoption process, unsure if they could afford it financially and logistically. After four years of raising funds to give the baby a good life, filling out hundreds of forms, and completing the home study, it felt like with constant efforts, things would become easier for them. They even crafted items and held yard sales, which also helped the couple earn a decent amount.
When things finally started to feel better, the couple was matched in Texas and the woman was expecting a happy. 2016 was the year that changed their life beautifully! The mother wished that her baby had a family with siblings, and the couple, hearing this, was overwhelmed with happiness as they were the chosen ones! Soon, the foster mother was preparing for her lactation, pumping for hours to nurse the baby well, although things could have turned out differently. Until the papers were signed, there was no guarantee that the couple would be the ones adopting the angel.
Fast-forward to 2017. On March 25th, Josie was welcomed into the world, and the couple who couldn’t wait any longer to meet the baby flew to see her the next day. The birth mother, with a cracked voice and teary eyes, asked her to tell the baby about how her biological mother loved her and did not give Josie away because she wanted to. She also requested the couple stay in touch.
The moment the couple entered the room, the mother holding baby Josie sobbed. All the waiting, the emotions were finally coming out, as there was still a day left to sign the adoption papers. For legal clearance, the couple stayed in Texas for two more weeks.
When photos were shared, everyone cherished the baby’s presence and expressed how they would not wait to see her. The bond is bonded by truth, and it teaches how adoption is about placing in love, not giving away!
