From Single Foster Mom to Thriving Family of Five: How Saying “Yes” Changed Everything

From Single Foster Mom to Thriving Family of Five: How Saying “Yes” Changed Everything

In today’s society, people emphasize falling in love and getting married, and most of our lives revolve around these. Humans often tend to forget themselves and their dreams in the process. However, after experiencing so much in life, Lauren emphasizes doing it all alone. It not only reshapes your life but also shows your capability of doing things yourself.
Just like everyone else, there was a time when she was patient, she waited for the right time to arrive so she could chase her dream until she realised there was no right time. In her case, she looked forward to being more financially stable, having a less chaotic life, and her true love by her side when she achieves something. However, her realisations were sudden.

At 26 in 2019, Lauren realised how badly she wanted a family, but through fostering. This was it! The next few days, she was taking classes to become a licensed single parent.
Before she decided to do it all alone, the past five years, after going through so much pain and trauma, were blurred and overwhelming. Being surrounded by her loved ones who were drug addicts and growing up seeing abuse, she spent her night crying on the bathroom floor, not knowing what life holds for her in the future. But she knew that if she escaped everything, there would be so much that she would cherish, from loving and taking care of her adopted twin boys to getting immense love from her mother.

Without the lows, she wouldn’t have observed how the world needed kindness and learned humility. She observed how broken people and the community were, where even beautiful relationships like friendships were challenging. Without it all, she would never have seen how dearly Lauren’s family accepted her idea of fostering and the boys. Not just this, with time, what she desired was obtained on her journey.
When she said yes to the boys, she also found the love of her life, her husband.

They fell in love and got married in no time, and they were now a family of five, as her husband had a 10-year-old daughter. Lauren did not just fill the space of the girl who had lost her mother at four; she loved the girl dearly. Lauren’s husband was equally invested in joining her on the fostering journey, and his support became even more wonderful.
The couple is now a beautiful family of five that includes the two fostered sons, who were biological brothers. They shared a bedroom. The bond between the siblings was strong, as the couple’s daughter was welcoming towards them. They were seen playing and laughing all the time. It felt like they had their little world.

The couple’s life is not as perfect as it seems to be. However, what matters the most to them is the love they are surrounded by, and they know happiness, children, and how far they have come can not be traded for anything else in life. Lauren’s story is a message to those struggling and for those who feel lost in life that yes, healing does take time, but you do not need to stop dreaming and chasing your dreams until you find love in life.

God has given humans the ability to achieve great things independently, and you never know when and how you will encounter love in life. It might be when you finally take the first step towards achieving your goals. Love is supposed to make you grow and not stop you from doing great in life; thus, do not hesitate to show the world your strength and capabilities!
