Meet My Son, Elijah Paul Houston
“Meet my son, Elijah Paul Houston.”
Even now, those words feel like a quiet miracle, an ending to years of whispered prayers and a beginning to a love I can hardly describe.
Elijah didn’t simply arrive; he was longed for. There were days when hope felt fragile, when I held onto faith more tightly than anything else. Through every tear, every prayer, every moment of waiting, one truth stayed constant: this child was already loved.
When he finally entered the world, it felt as if the room itself paused. The nurse placed him on my chest, and in that instant, everything shifted. His warmth, his tiny breaths, the way he curled into me made me realize I was holding the answer to every prayer I had ever spoken.
At home now, the little signs of his presence, soft blankets, tiny socks, the gentle rise and fall of his breathing, remind me daily of the miracle he is. Sometimes I just watch him sleep and whisper the words that carried me here:
“You are loved. You are wanted. You are cherished. You are prayed for.”
