A 34-year-old British man originally from Somalia has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted murder after a car struck five pedestrians in west London.
Police said the driver failed to stop after the incident in Ealing, but officers detained him nearby.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Due to the nature of the incident, local officers were in contact with officers from Counter Terrorism Policing London during their initial enquiries.
“While investigators are keeping an open mind regarding a possible motive, the incident is not currently being treated as terrorism.”

The crash happened on Ealing Broadway at around 2:30pm on Saturday. Two pedestrians were treated at the scene, while three others were taken to hospital. Police confirmed none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said crews, paramedics, rapid response teams and London’s Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
“We treated three patients at the scene and took one to a major trauma centre as a priority. The other two were taken to a local hospital,” the spokesperson said.
The Broadway remains closed near Marks & Spencer while emergency services continue to monitor the area.

Footage shared online shows the damaged car attempting to drive away as bystanders tried to stop it, with some kicking the vehicle and one person attempting to open the driver’s door.
Road safety campaigner Mark Uddin told The Telegraph he arrived minutes after the crash.
“This happened at around 2.15pm at the crossing opposite Marks and Spencer, at the junction of The Broadway and High Street,” he said.
He added that the car struck three pedestrians directly, saying two victims were sitting up and receiving treatment, while a woman appeared more seriously injured and remained lying on the ground.
