The Inspiring Story of a Mom Who Battled Obesity, Overcame Grief, and Celebrated New Life with Her Rainbow Baby

Being overweight does not limit one to being prone to many fatal diseases; it also affects one’s self-confidence and ability to own oneself. It was on 1 January 2015 that this realization hit Eden Sanbaoeuf. She made a New Year’s resolution to maintain a healthy weight, knowing that it could significantly impact her life, and the 300 pounds had to be reduced at all costs. Being only 25, she felt conscious and dismayed seeing people happy in large gatherings, and was constantly exhausted, although she did not have much physical activity in her life.

How the weight affected her emotionally, mentally, and physically, too, as she was sick on most days, was immense. Also, her wedding pictures were a wake-up call as she did not look like she had imagined because she was overweight. She did not want to be the biggest on her big day and felt miserable thinking it all had gone in vain. Eden wanted to stay firm on losing weight and took several measures with complete determination. The first thing was to track her calories and the food she consumed, for which she installed an application called My FitnessPal.

It was a big eye-opener for her when she realized that she was intoxicating her body with the food choices she had made for her eyes, further pushing her to exercise. Eden learned that this would be an arduous journey; however, she slowly wanted to build physical strength and the momentum to exercise regularly. With consistency, she slowly started seeing results, but after a few months, the progress had slowed down.

However, rather than getting demotivated or losing hope, Eden found it the perfect push to try harder. So, it was time to look for new health recipes and see how she could incorporate things to make her lifestyle more active. She also made a page on Facebook to share her entire journey. Getting healthy with Eden on Facebook was a motivation, as people worldwide would see her as an inspiration and would do better in life. In the next ten months, she was already a hundred and thirty-five pounds down and clearly saw the changes the transformation had brought.

Moreover, the pounds she lost were just at the right time, as soon as the couple received the news that Eden was expecting. Life couldn’t get better at that moment, as all she had ever prayed for was finally becoming reality. With the same zeal for motivation, she kept working hard and continued with a healthy lifestyle for a safe delivery; however, in January 2015, when the doctors told her that the baby had a condition and would not be able to survive outside the womb, she was devastated.

The couple was left shattered. The ultrasound that was meant to tell the couple the gender tore their world apart so easily. It was on 27th January when he couple was supposed to welcome their first baby, but it ended up being the day they lost him too. Eden expresses by calling the day the best worst day ever! How she couldn’t hold baby Wyatt in her arms or hear him cry was heartbreaking.

Although most people might think that Eden would have returned to her old habits after the grief, her choices were wise. She was determined to stay healthy and dedicated her fitness journey to the baby. Soon, she found out she was pregnant again, and yet again, it was a ray of hope—one that could take away all the sadness and heal the couple. The pregnancy was smooth this time, and the couple welcomed Joseph, their rainbow baby, on February 3rd, 2017. The happiest day of her life!

The pregnancy did add around 60 pounds to her body weight again, but through consistency, she lost it all in the next nine months. Losing 200 pounds was challenging, yet Eden has shown how determination leads to success. She also donated her old wedding gown, which could fit two Edens now, and she was proud of it. This is your reminder always to choose health if you also want to live like Eden!
