Eileen is a resilient woman who refuses to take any help, even at the age of 90. She does everything, including her daily chores and setting up Christmas lights! She is a tough soul with a heart as soft as a flower, so she keeps the family going!
She has just turned 93, and her youngest grandchild has just given birth. Eileen was a farm girl who traveled so much that it can be said she has lived everywhere, from L.A. to the mountains in California. Her family, especially the grandchildren, loved spending summers with her because they were all about chores, cards, and mouth-watering cookies!
When she turned 14, she came to Ohio and built a house identical to where she lived, so similar that even the family did not notice any differences. Every year, the family saw her on Christmas, and she also visited when her granddaughter gave birth. She moved to Reno in 2020 for good, and after two months, a massive wildfire occurred. The emergency caused the family, i.e., six people, to be squeezed under one roof due to the forced evacuations for safety purposes.
Her granddaughter, raised in Reno, was pregnant then and gave birth to a beautiful son, Skip, after just two weeks. Grandma lived in the same house as them when he came into this world.
She gently held a tiny and beautiful baby in her arms. While holding him, Eileen said, ‘I can’t believe how little he is.’
Everything felt so peaceful for the next few weeks until Grandma was there. Each moment was a moment to cherish. Great-grandchildren were playing with her, following her everywhere, and the house was filled with laughter and smiles. Although the wildfire made the family lose their home, what they gained was way more precious.

Skip now gets to eat the same cookies the granddaughter used to eat when spending summers with grandma. They go hand in hand on a walk and are like friends who keep each other happy.
After a few weeks of things settling down, when the fire-damaged grandma lived down the street, her granddaughter, along with the kids, visited her often.
While grandma recently turned 93, Skip has turned 1. A bond that might not last forever, but will forever be cherished.
It was extraordinary!
