Different life experiences shape your personality and how you think and act to a great extent, and growing up without the support and presence of her father shaped the traits she developed all those years. Just at the age of 5, her biological father refused to accept her. Imagine how heavy it would be for a toddler to admit that her dad did not want her. Soon after the divorce, the mother also decided to get married, and they were a family of five now, as the man also already had two kids.
It finally brought good things to her life as it felt like she was finally home after years. However, things were not how they appeared to be, as although she loved her little family and the step-siblings, it was not the same on the other side of the story. One main reason was that they only met their father on weekends. This also distanced the family, and everyone had their grudges, which resulted in the girl being a part of a broken family once again, after 16 whole years!
For an 18-year-old, her experiences were already too much to bear, and a new desire sparked in her heart: to build a permanent family. Once she completed college, she decided it was time to move out, so she chose Texas, where she met Sal.
However, things weren’t that simple once again, as he was already navigating through so much from being separated from his wife to co-parenting his 2-year-old daughter, Aislinn. Thus, things weren’t easier for him either.
As time passed, her bond with the baby progressed as she cared for Aislinn in every way a mother would, from painting her nails to bringing a smile to cooking her dinner. The bond was dear to both!
In the next few months, when Sal confirmed his divorce, they were officially a couple, but she realised that dating a single dad was a tough job, requiring a lot of sacrifices and patience. All the time they spent together, it felt like despite being Sal’s girlfriend, she was the second priority and was acting as a bonus parent, which drained her emotionally.
However, not giving up her patience bore fruit as things got better when the two married and had two kids. They were so in love, and the relationship was full of respect between the couple and Ashley, Sal’s ex-wife. The two hung out and even planned parties together, forming a positive bond full of love.
Their bond got even better when one of their daughters was diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes, and someone had to be there for the girl to take care of. It was when Ashley, with a pure heart, stood by the couple and Benning. Presently, the duties are shared; she has multiple bonds of sincerity, and life is about family and love.
Being a stepmom comes with many misconceptions. However, if your intentions are pure, know nothing can prevent you from forming a beautiful bond based solely on love and care. Aislinn recently turned 12 and is 32, but they are more like a team. A blended family is bliss!
